Our study deals with the calendering process in viscoelastic sheets of finite initial thickness. The rheological constitutive equation of the fluid under consideration follows the Simplified–Phan–Thien–Tanner (SPTT) fluid model. The corresponding governing equations of mass and momentum balance, based on lubrication theory, are solved for the velocity and pressure fields using numerical techniques. When the above variables were obtained, we followed determining quantities of engineering interest such as the roll-separating force and the power transmitted to the fluid by the rolls. Is our interest to determine the influence of viscoelastic effects (represented by the Weissenberg number Wi) on such variables.
