This communication reports on experimental study, based on a special mould (RCEM – rotation, compression and expansion mould) for inducing controllable complex stress fields during the filling stage of injection moulding. This tool was used to mould disc shape specimens on a short glass fibre filled thermoplastic. The mechanical behaviour of the obtained mouldings was characterized in flexural and impact loading situations. The respective results are analysed and discussed in terms of the developed fibre orientation morphology.
