Evaluation of Properties of PTFE Filament Fibers with Changes in Melt flow Index(MfI)

In this study, the changes of the properties of PTFE polymer due to MfI(melt flow Index) were observed. PTFE polymer chips having various Mfi were prepared by mixing PTFE polymers having different molecular weights. PTFE filament fibers were made by applying the prepared PTFE polymer to the melt spinning process conditions identified in the previous study. The difference in the melt spinning process with the change of Mfi was observed. The surface and cross section of the fabrics were analyzed by FE-SEM, and the crystal behavior and mechanical properties were confirmed by X-ray, DSC and Tensile test.
