The properties of the rubber composites were better when mixing the elastomeric nano-particles (ENPs) with sulfur or n-tert-butylbenzothiazole-2-sulphenamide (TBBS) in advance and then mixed with styrene butadiene rubber (SBR). The physical and mechanical properties, rolling resistance, wear resistance and wet sliding resistance of the rubber composites were studied. The structure of the rubber composites was studied by NMR, DSC and DMA. The results show that the vulcanization reaction can be accelerated, the crosslinking density can be increased, the content of binder can be increased, and Payne effect can be reduced when the rubber composites was obtained by mixing the ENPs with S or TBBS in advance. The mechanical properties of the rubber composites were better than those of the direct mixed ENPs with SBR. This is mainly due to the fact that S or TBBS are more evenly dispersed in the rubber composites after the ENPs were mixed with S or TBBS in advance. In other words, ENPs can assist the dispersion of other additives, thus improving the performance of the composites.
