The size and morphology of PA6 in the PE/PA6 blend have an important influence on the mechanical properties of the PE. When the dispersion size of PA6 reached the micro level, the strength of PE could be improved and its toughness could be maintained partially. For the morphology, the strength of PE was improved by preparing PA6 fiber in situ, but the toughness of PE would be decreased. Therefore, how to control the size and morphology of PA6 to realize the reinforcement and toughening of the matrix synchronously? In this work, we obtained the in-situ preparation of micro PA6 fiber ribbon in PE/PA6 blend by micro/nano multi-layer co-extrusion equipment and mixer. It was found that the yield strength and impact strength of the final obtained PE/PA6 blend containing micro PA6 fiber ribbon were improved significantly. The yield strength of the blends containing PA6 fiber or PA6 spherical particles be increased, but the toughness would be decreased. The results laid a foundation for the preparation of high-performance composites containing polymer fiber ribbon.
