Various design criteria for anti-bacterial and anti-icing polymer films will be introduced and potential applications will be discussed. Electrostatically and/or H-bonded antibacterial layer-by-layer films of PEOX stabilized Ag-NPs/TA and Nisin/Polyanion systems exhibiting contact killing or antibacterial agent release property will be presented. Anti-icing agent filled porous silica particles loaded into hydrophobic polymers will be introduced as anti-icing agent releasing coatings.
