The study concerns the development of models for the simulation of foaming process in a closed cavity with a porous medium positioned on one of the walls. The main objective is to study the foam / porous medium interaction in injection in order to establish a flow model for polymer foam in a porous medium. Experiments were performed on a plate mold injected by its center. Fibrous media with different densities, porosities and roughness are positioned on the lower wall. After foam solidification, the penetration depth into fibrous medium is measured. SEM images are also used to look at the influence of the porous media on cell size distribution. Numerical simulations are performed using the Stokes-Brinkman model in which a permeability tensor characterizes the fibrous medium. Reaction kinetic model, density model and viscosity model have already presented in a previous conference and are already available in REM3D software. The numerical penetration depth are compared to experimental observations.
