In this paper, one of micro-additive manufacturing method, melt electrospinning direct writing has been developed for manufacturing of three-dimensional micro-coiled structures. In melt-electrospinning direct write method, the molten viscous polymer is narrowed down towards the collector by applying a high-voltage electric field between the nozzle and the collector. The deposited micro-filament diameter and the shape can be tuned by process parameters such as heating temperature, printer/collector speed, applied voltage, and the pressure. The surface area of the melt-electrospun structures can be a key factor in maximizing the surface interactions. In this regard, regular coiled melt-electrospun patterns will have higher specific surface area, which might be of interest of many applications such as energy storage and conversion applications. In this study, the effect of process parameters on melt electrospinning of micro-coiled polymers with different geometrical patterns was investigated..
