Because of their electrochromic properties conductive polymers can be used in display technologies and smart windows. Despite the large number of electrochromic polymer synthesis, researchers have made great efforts to synthesize black-to-transparent electrochromic materials due to their superior optical contrasts. In this study, q novel black-to-transmissive electrochromic materials based on copolymerization of EDOT and star-shaped carbazole derivatives (SC1 and SC2) have been designed and synthesized. The electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical properties of the copolymers prepared with different monomer feed ratios have been investigated and the optimum ratio has been determined for obtaining the black-to-transmissive electrochromic material.
