Corn starch films with added active and intelligent (A&I) natural nano-fillers obtained from montmorillonite with the addition of blueberry extract were investigated. The objective of this study is focused on the development of A&I films to be applied in the food industry. The obtained films were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), contact angle, atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thickness, density, opacity, color parameters and response to pH changes. The results indicated that A&I natural nano-fillers had no response to pH changes within developed films, and that these A&I nano-fillers increased the phase separation in the starch thermoplastic material.
