Manipulating interfacial thermal transport is important for many technologies including nanoelectronics, solid-state lighting and energy generation. Organic/inorganic interfaces are often become the heat transport bottlenecks. In this study graphene oxide (GO) was modified by different strategies like non-covalent and covalent, organic and inorganic. Modified GO was then mixed and cured with epoxy. Different GO/epoxy interfaces and GO dispersion were observed. Morphological characterization was achieved by scanning electron microscopy. The effect of modified GO on the thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of epoxy composites will be measured. It is expected to identify the optimal GO/epoxy interface for enhancing thermal conductivity of epoxy composites. The mechanism to improve the thermal conductivity of GO filled composites will be discussed. This will open effective methods in designing thermal conductive composites.
