Due to the steady increase in the variety of thermoplastic compounds, comprehensive quality control along the entire polymer processing workflow is a necessity. Here, Differential Scanning Calorimetry represents a well-established analytical method that yields a multiplicity of information such as melting and crystallization behavior, compatibility, material composition etc. The novel software package for the Netzsch DSC 214 Polyma offers the possibility to autonomously evaluate measured DSC curves and classify the results by an automated database comparison. This can save time and increases the usability of DSC significantly. Furthermore, the creation of user libraries offers the possibility to create automated pass/fail analysis. The capabilities of this novel functionality are demonstrated on relevant case studies such as the evaluation of one PA6 recyclate batch out of a series of compounds and the automated quantification of blend ratios for a PE/PP mixture.
