In this study, poly(butylene succinate)(PBS) pellets containing a multi-functional monomer were prepared by using an twin screw extruder. Continuous silk fibroin towpregs were impregnated with the resin through combined extrusion/pultrusion technique. Unidirectional silk fibroin fiber/PBS biocomposites were fabricated by a compression molding with the unidirectional thermoplastic prepregs, which were prepared by regularly aligning the towpregs on an aluminum plate. The mechanical and thermal properties of the biocomposites were explored. The results were consistent with each other, depending on the electron beam radiation directly applied to the biocomposites.
