The maleic anhydride (MA) concentration effect in methyl methacrilate-co-maleic anhydride (MMA-MA) copolymer on mechanical and rheological behavior of nanocomposites based in polyamide 6/acrilonitrile-EPDM-styrene (PA6/AES) blends were evaluated. Nanocomposites were prepared using a co-rotational twin screw extruder and characterized by wide angle x-ray diffraction (WAXD), mechanical and rheological tests. Izod impact resistance results showed the addition of 5% of MMA-MA copolymer with 3% of MA is suitable for increasing nanocomposites toughness. Significant enhancements in modulus of elasticity and yield strength were observed for nanocomposites when compared with neat PA6/AES blend. Reological analysis showed an increasing in viscosity, storage modulus and loss modulus of nanoclay containing systems. Ternary PA6/AES blends compatibilized with MMA-MA were also prepared and enhancements in mechanical properties were observed when compared with the blend without compatiblizer agent incorporation.
