In order to understand the influence of compatibilization on the rheological and mechanical behavior of blends of recycled Polypropylene (PPr)/Ground Tire Rubber (GTR) devulcanized by microwave, shear and extensional measurements were carried out and correlated with their mechanical and morphological properties. Firstly, the vulcanized rubber (GTR) was devulcanized in a convencional microwave oven, in order to make it possible to flow under the action of an external force, i.e., be processable again. Furthermore, this rubber can be broken-up in small particles during the mechanical processing, refining the morphology. In this work, GTR was devulcanized during six minutes, and processed varying the composition of compatibilizer (PP-MA). The results showed the addition of compatibilizer improved the interfacial adhesion of these polymer blends, resulting in reduction of the size of GTR6 domain into PPr.
