In recent years, research with biopolymers such as Poly (lactic acid) – PLA and has attracted the attention of researchers around the world, mainly because they present some limitations, requiring modifications to become economically feasible and therefore more competitive compared to conventional thermoplastic polymers. These modifications have been made by blending biopolymers with other conventional polymers or biopolymers. The aim of this work was to investigate the effect of biopolyethylene (BioPE) content on the mechanical properties and morphology of PLA/BioPE blend. The blends containing different amounts of BioPE were prepared by extrusion followed by injection molding and characterized by mechanical properties and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The results showed that the impact strength decreased with the increase in the BioPE content. The analysis of the morphology by SEM showed an increase in the BioPE dispersed phase domains size with the increase in the BioPE content resulting in the decrease of the impact strength.
