Development of controlled guest release system represents one of the most attractive research topics due to their potential applications in drug delivery, sensors, filtrations and personal care products. The current controlled release systems are mainly focused on the polymer based nano-carriers, in which polymeric nanoparticle and liposomes are dominantly studied. However, these nano-devices are rarely employed for industrial applications because of the difficulties in scalable fabrication. Polymer nanosheet (PNS), a polymer based free-standing film with nano-order thickness, is a promising candidate for many applications, such as bio-sensors, nonlinear optical materials and soft biomaterials. A polymer nanosheet (PNS) based on poly(caprolatone) fabricated via a layer multiplying co-extrusion strategy was demonstrated as a novel controlled guest release system. The guest release property of PNS could be adjusted by sheet thickness, pH values of media and degree of freedom. The release kinetics of obtained PNS was systematically studied and simulation was also employed to demonstrate the result.
