When dealing with the development and testing of thermoplastic compounds the specific standardized methods for the plastics industry cannot be easily met by implementing conventional high-throughput methodologies. At the same time, there is a huge need to speed up the development of new thermoplastic formulations, especially in the field of renewable or lightweight materials. This paper gives an overview of the capabilities of Polymaterials’ new High-Throughput Compounding (HTC) development technology which accelerates the preparation and testing of standardized test specimens by at least one order of magnitude. Case studies demonstrate that this new method generates applicable results in a fraction of the usual time and is accepted by the plastics industry for the first time.
