ABSTRACT: This paper describes the nonlinear viscoelastic behavior of polyamide 6(PA6)/ Acrylonitrile–Butadiene–Styrene (ABS) nanocomposite blends. The samples prepared using a co-rotating twin screw extruder at temperature of 235°C and a screw speed of 100 rpm. Polyethylene octene elastomer grafted with maleic anhydride (POE-g-MA) used as the compatibilizer. The morphology of the blends examined by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). SEM micrographs indicated that with increasing nanoclay content, size of dispersing phase droplets decreases considerably and their uniformity improve significantly. Overshoots were observed for start-up tests after different delay times. The magnitude of these overshoots increased with the applied shear rate and delay time. The overshoots are highly dependent on the network structure of the nanocomposite blends and the height of the overshoots increases with increasing nanoclay content. The obtained results showed that at very short delay time, the transient shear viscosity does not display any overshoot while with increment in the delay time the overshoot appears and increases as the delay time increases.
