An aluminum substrate of which surface was roughened by a laser ablation was united with a molten polymer.
The injection molding technique was employed to unite the roughened surface with three kinds of polymers: crystalline polymer; PBT and amorphous polymers; PS and ABS.
The joining strength of the aluminum/polymer interface was sufficiently strong as the polymers themselves were broken while the interface was held when the interface was stretched.
