Chemical modifications in Ground Tire Rubber after devulcanization by microwave

Chemical modifications in Ground tire rubber (GTR) devulcanized by microwaves was verified by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The devulcanization process occurred in the same microwaves power, in a system composed by a conventional microwave oven adapted with a motorized stirring system with speed control. The GTR was devulcanized in different times of exposure to the microwaves. The analysis proved the decomposition of high energetic bonds in others less energetic.
