This paper investigates the influence of injection molding parameters like melt and mold temperature or holding pressure on the optical and haptic properties of structured plastic surfaces. For this purpose, an automated test stand was developed to measure the gloss and color of the surface. The topography of the surface was analyzed by a digital light microscope. Test results on the structured ABS-PC test panels show, that the examined process parameters melt and mold temperature have a greater influence on the color, gloss and topography than the holding pressure. By increasing the mass and mold temperature, the color, gloss and roughness can be significantly influenced. The color difference and gloss decreases with increasing process parameters, whereas the roughness increases. The same was also observed for the gloss difference, which is a sign for a better surface quality at higher process parameters. The screening of the surface made it possible to detect surface defects in terms of color and gloss and the influences of process parameters on the defects.
