Liquid cosmetics and pharmaceutics are often offered in hollow bodies made out of plastic, which are manufactured by means of extrusion blow molding, a quick and inexpensive process to produce such plastic parts. After the opening of the packaging, the products often dry out or become contaminated. A solution is to use multi-layered containers, which at the same time enable a gradual emptying without air penetration into the interior of the bag. However, these containers are not economically affordable for many products and therefore previously used only for higher value products. As part of the project, the current five-layer structure has to be optimized. The aim is to realize a three-layer bottle in which a modified polyamide is used to replace the previous EVOH layer. For the first time, polypropylene and polyamide are combined in an extrusion blow molding process. Keywords: polyamide, blow molding, modification, reactive extrusion
