Four different types of PP with varying amorphous content were chosen. Batch foaming of the PP samples were carried out at three different conditions in a batch vessel using supercritical Carbon Dioxide. Cell size obtained from SEM analysis and the foam density measurements supported each other. DSC and XRD were used as tools to measure the changes in the crystallinity aspects of foams due to supercritical Carbon Dioxide. Interestingly, DMA results showed drastic change in the transitions for Impact copolymers of polypropylene foams as compared to their unfoamed counterparts. Foams of Impact copolymers foamed at lower foaming temperature, showed better tensile toughness values. These values were found to be in coherence with Tan Delta results obtained from DMA.
