Carboxymethylcellulose scaffold combined with graphene oxide and hydroxyapatite (CMC/GO/HAP) were prepared to serve as a matrix for amoxicillin drug delivery during surgical treatment of musculoskeletal diseases. The nanocompistes materials were synthesized through in situ precipitation. Prepared materials loaded with different amount of amoxicillin were characterized using infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The release profile of amoxicillin as a model drug in buffer solution has established the efficiency of the nancomposites as a sustained delivery system. The amoxicillin-loaded nanocomposites exhibited a significant antibacterial compared to virgin HAP loaded amoxicillin .The nanocomposites developed in this study exhibited a great potential in bone tissue engineering and drug delivery application.
