Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE) represent a group of important materials in modern medical engineering that can be used for medical tubing for example. Currently, medial tubings are made of plasticized PVC. However, this type of material is no longer state of the art due to toxicological concerns stemming from the plasticizer used in PVC-P. Therefore, there exists a growing demand for substitution of vinyl based medical tubing. Thermoplastic styrenic elastomers (TPS) could be used as an alternative material. The material properties related to the intended application are not yet sufficiently known. Therefore, studies on the morphology-property-relationships of SEBS/PP Compounds with varying PP content by using different characterization methods like thermal scanning stress relaxation (TSSR), tensile tension and Hysteresis tests according to Eisele have been carried out. TSSR can also help to describe an understanding about the phase morphology. The works were completed by surveys of the morphology. Finally, the impact of modification of varying ratios of SEBS/PP and the influence of the PP Type (Random Copolymer and Homopolymer) on the material properties is presented.
