This study developed a composite biodegradable polymeric model to enhance tendon graft anchoring and tendon bone healing. The in vitro and in vivo outcomes showed that the PLGA/collagen blended nanofibrous membrane functioned as a hydrophilic, stable and biocompatible scaffold. The PLA bolt was also proved to be a durable anchor for maintenance of the tendon-bone anchoring. In addition, the histological results demonstrated adequate biocompatibility of the PLA bolt on medial cortex with progressive bone ingrowths without tissue overreactions. The PLGA nanofibers within the bone tunnel also revealed the reduction of bone tunnel enlargement and enhanced the tendon-bone integration.
