Recently, application of conventional rubber sealing parts is limited since waterproof parts in the automobiles or electricity/electronics fields are required to satisfy higher specification. To meet high specification requirements, two-component injection molding process of LSR and thermoplastic resin is practiced. However, a curing reaction in the LSR resin is differently exhibited according to the changes in the process condition. Accordingly, the pressure and temperature that are built up inside the product also become different, causing different bonding characteristics of materials having different physical properties. In this study, bonding characteristics at interface between LSR and PBT according to the curing temperature of LSR and surface temperature of PBT were evaluated. Two types of test specimens were produced by injection molding to investigate the shear strength and peeling strength at the interface of LSR and PBT. Four curing temperatures of LSR (115°C, 130°C, 150°C, and 170°C) and three surface temperatures of PBT (room temperature, 80°C, and 100°C) were employed to investigate the shear and peeling strength of specimens. The test results showed that the shear strength as well as the peeling strength did not show noticeable changes according to the changes in the PBT surface temperature in the higher curing temperature ranges. Whereas, a relatively high strength change was observed according to the changes in the PBT surface temperature at the low curing temperature ranges.
