Nowadays, graphene (G) and graphene oxide (GO) are used in preparation of polymer nancocomposites. The properties of polymer nanocomposites extensively depend on the extent of nanoparticles dispersion. In this work Pickering micro emulsion as a novel method is employed to achieve uniform dispersion of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) in styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) based nanocomposites. In this method thermodynamically favorable adsorption of GO sheets on the liquid droplets serves in the fabrication of well-dispersed composites. Microwave radiation is employed to vaporize the liquids. Then the curing materials are added to the dried samples on a two roll mill and the compounds are vulcanized in a hot press. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) displays the appropriate dispersion of the rGO. The tensile test results show a considerable improvement of tensile strength as well as significant increase in the elongation of the SBR containing 1 phr of rGO in comparison with the neat SBR. In addition to these, the effect of rGO on energy dissipation of the SBR compound is evaluated and discussed Keywords: Styrene Butadiene Rubber, Graphene oxide, Nanocomposites, Microstructure
